6th Kentucky Infantry, Company C, CSAThe 6th Kentucky Infantry, Company C, was formed from men in Barren and surrounding counties in southern Kentucky. The Company was mustered in at Cave City in November, 1861. The commanding officer was Captain Isaac Smith.

The Colonel of the 6th was Joseph Lewis (above) who was from Glasgow. He was later promoted and was the last commanding General of the famed "Orphan Brigade." He is buried at Glasgow, KY. The 6th Kentucky Infantry played a major role in the war with the "Orphan Brigade". Some of the battles the 6th took part in included: Shiloh, Baton Rouge, Vicksburg, Murfreesboro, Chickamauga, and Atlanta.
